Benfica and Zaragoza had been in negotiations for weeks and the last minute demands have made it fall through.

Ex Benfica star and new Sporting Director, Rui Costa traveled to Zaragoza today with talks and finalized the deal.

It is reported that Aimar has already signed a three-year contract which, will cost Benfica €7,5 million

The former Valencia and River Plate man did not hide his joy for signing for Benfica, saying: “Fortunately, I have always been able to choose where to play in my career. I had other offers, but I always wanted Benfica.”

West Brom manager Tony Mowbray is happy after he completed the £1.4 million deal for Porto’s Marek Cech.

The boss told West Brom’s website “Marek’s a player I’ve been looking at for over a year.”

The Poland international had offers from PAOK in Greece last week but has rejected them, but said he is ready to quit FC Porto. His agent also has offers from England and Germany for him.

Chelsea have won the battle over Ricardo Carvalho. He is staying at Stamford Bridge.

The Portuguese international put Chelsea on alert about his future after EURO 2008, having confessed he wanted to go back with former coach, Jose Mourinho.

Carvalho said he is a huge fan of Scolari, after working for him when he was Portugal coach, and is now happy to stay.

Pizarro was expected to go to Germany for Werder Bremen and Hamburg.

PSG are trying to close in on the £3million deal before Chelsea go on tours to Russia and China.
